Building a Bronson Bike - The Peanut Gas Tank

The tank is 2.5 gallons, with a reserve function. Note the Eye placement which is on both sides. The signatures are Birney Jarvis (The Real Jim Bronson, top) and Jerry (who painted the original bikes for the TV series in 1969-70, lower).

Note the tank on the left does not have the rear mounting tabs like the tank below. The the tank on the left has tabs under the aft part of the tank and pinch the frame on Mike's Bike.

The tank with the tabs (right) is from a 1975 Sportster, and painted with paint from and original can of Harley Davidson Bronson Red paint that is 40 years old. Bill W. is the owner of this tank and found the can which is displayed on Ebay (very rare). The preferred alternate is "Ford Performance Red" the code is M6729A / ES. A great alternative from the Bronson Red Enamel. It is a Color Coat, Clear Coat, it will hold up to the ethanol gas when it gets spilled on it.
