I know that even though we are BIG into the Bronson thing, that does not mean that we do not appreciate "The Art of The Motorcycle." In 2000 I bought a 2000 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 Classic FI. At that time Kawasaki chose to make its classic cruisers look similar to Indians. The Drifter was modeled after the Indian Chief and the 1500 Classic were modeled after the Indian Scout.

This photo will give you an idea of how it looked early on. It still has the stock paint, but I had added V & H Long shots, white wall tires, a windshield, spot-lights, a chrome front wheel "hub" and a Mustang saddle.

For about five years I really didn't know what to do with the bike as far as looks go. I tried a number of things with different exhaust systems and white wall tires... I was shooting for a 1960's look. But then I saw some nice photos of some 1940's model Indians and it struck me! Hey, if Kawasaki meant for this bike to vaguely resemble an Indian Scout, I would go all the way with the scheme. So, I went for a 1940's theme, and the enclosed photos will show you the end result of what I consider to be a VERY pretty motorcycle.

I owned this bike for nine years and rode it from San Diego to Colorado, on the return trip I came through the San Juan Loop and back to San Diego. In 2006 I rode her from Oxford, Mississississippippi to Maine and back. It was a GREAT bike and I put 49,805 miles on it before I sold it.

Indian in the kitchen - When it's 98 degrees and 80% humidity in Mississippi, and yer wife is away... it may be safe to change out yer exhaust system in yer kitchen. The operative words here are, of course,

"and yer wife is away".
